Color and repurposing
I have found several spots in our house to add easy punches of color. Our bedroom was always very neutral: white and grey. At the time it felt very relaxing and spa-like. Last week I pulled the teal small square pillows from my living room to our bed for a pop of color and then found beautiful teal velvet drapes. It adds a layer of richness to the room. Still, relaxing with a newly added layer of sophistication. I love it! Even better is that I made all of the updates for under $200! Another update that cost me $0 was moving the 9x12 bright boho rug we purchased for my daughter's room last year to our guest room/home gym. Wow, does it change up the entire space! I will share a snapshot of the rug in an Instagram post in the next few days so you can see this beautiful rug. Upcoming 2021 trends state that warm colors are on the rise, designers are predicting that all shades of blue are on-trend for 2021 as well. My point of view is that the great thing about your home is it should represent you. Taste and style evolve, be open to it, try new things. If you love it, then it will be reflected in your home. Everyone should love where they live.
My other project for the past week has been working to perfect candle making and using a variety of repurposed vessels. I ended up using some beautiful blue glass candle holders from Anthropologie for vases. I've also used some cool wood bowls and marble cup holders for candles. I'll share some pics of these as well. Now I just need to perfect the right amount of essential oil so that they smell as beautiful as they burn.
What changes have you made in your home recently? I can’t wait to hear about them and I look forward to connecting again soon.
