Style

This morning I was thinking about style. Both personal style and home style; how do we develop it? It is something that changes and evolves (thank goodness)! When I was in elementary school, we moved to Kentucky where my parents built a home. It was super exciting watching the process happen and what was even more exciting was that my Mom and Dad let us “design” our bedrooms.

I was in the rainbows and unicorns stage at this point and had multicolored, heart wallpaper and super-cool rainbow bedding (that I later saw in the movie “Breakin” which I think confirmed my coolness). As I got a bit older the walls were soon covered with posters and as I went into High School we did a bedroom makeover. This time I went for a much more sophisticated floral pattern. I remember thinking how beautiful the bedding  colors were. I picked out a sage paint for the main wall—it was stunning.  Since, I have been able to do this same activity with my daughter and her room. It’s amazing what you can accomplish in a weekend with a fresh coat of paint and a new bedspread. Not to mention getting her involved and watching her develop her own sense of style. Move the furniture around and maybe add a new piece of wall art…and POOF…new room!

I look forward to connecting again soon.
